LAT (HEC) - Law Admission Test in Pakistan Syllabus and preparation

Introduction to LAT

Law Admission Test (LAT) and Law Graduate Assessment Test (LAWGAT) are conducted by HEC, followed by five years of practice for admission to LLB and later. as a consultant. Is for the license to do. In this article, I am focusing on the Law Admission Test (LAT).LAT is basically an entrance exam administered by the Higher Education Commission. For candidates aspiring for admission in LEB 5 year program, HEC has approved CPE 1334/2012 on 1 August 2018 for candidates aspiring for admission in LEB 5 year program. Conducted the first LAT test as per the guidelines provided by the Supreme Court order dated March 6, 2018. Before 6 March 2018, NTSLLB conducts National Aptitude Test (NAT) for 5 years.

Eligibility for Law Entrance Test (LAT)

Students who have passed the  Higher Secondary School Certificate (HSSC) or F.A, I.C.S, F.Sc

Students who have appeared for HSSC or equivalent exams are waiting for their results.

To get admission in LLB (five years under semester system) in private or public sector institutes it is necessary to pass LAT test.

Why is LAT so important?

Prior to LAT, the National Aptitude Test (NAT), like other bachelor programs, was a five-year assessment test for admission to LLB. There was no specific test for this purpose. A test was then conducted by the Supreme Court of Pakistan to determine whether the students had the aptitude to study law or not. Hence there was an urgent need to initiate a special examination at that time and that too will not be exemplified as this work has already seen. Department of Legal Education i.e. CLAT is conducted in our neighboring country India since many years. For admission in LLB.

In order to test students who are likely to perform well in the legal profession, the LAT is designed to test candidates' general knowledge and basic language skills. There are more details about the test.

The Law Entry Test (LAT) mainly consists of written and reasoning sections and includes questions.

English, Pakistani Affairs, Islamic Studies, and General Knowledge When we look at the National Aptitude Test (NAT), there are questions from verbal ability, analytical reason, and quantitative reasoning. The LAT subject focuses on assessing the general aptitude of students in the field of law, hence it was preferred over the National Aptitude Test (NAT).

A personal statement is like a resume in which you have to describe yourself on a page. The following are personal statements

Introduction (including your basic academic qualifications and achievements)

Purpose (why do you want to LLB)

Your skills

Past experience (if any, related to the fields)

The uniqueness of your personality (as you have participated in various co-curricular activities)

While the written part of the LAT ensured proper spacing between the two, 200 words for essay and 200 words for personal statements as the written part students were given only two sheets to write.

MCQ section.

This section is the main part of this entrance exam which consists of 75 MCQs from 6 different subjects like English, G.K, and Pak Study. So you need to know the basics of all these subjects. In the case of Pakistan you have to focus mainly on the pre-partition period and some important events like the Lahore Resolution, Allahabad Address. While in English section your main focus should be on synonyms/ antonyms and preparation. Math includes basic math such as percentages and ratios.

How to prepare for the test

Most of the students consult books from various publishers for LAT preparation, but most of the books written for the preparation of law entrance test are mainly based on fluff and these books contain irrelevant material. Interested persons should not rely on any book or note. If one wants to score well in the law entrance exam, one has to prepare for it just like one wants to make one's notes.
